Seeds Today, Harvest Tomorrow
By Mareli Mosca - Motherhood
Motherhood can feel like one long season of sowing. Day after day, you pour yourself out, into nappies and school lunches, into homework battles and midnight feeds, into the hundreds of little “don’t do that” conversations and whispered bedtime prayers.
And if we’re honest, sometimes it feels like nothing changes. You keep sowing patience into tantrums, sowing kindness into sibling fights, sowing faith into bedtime routines, and yet the next day you’re back in the same soil, planting again. It’s exhausting.
But here’s the thing about seeds: most of the time, they do their growing underground.
You can’t see it. You water, you wait, you wonder if anything’s happening. Yet deep in the soil, life is forming. And one day, sometimes when you least expect it, it breaks through.

The Joy of the Harvest
Motherhood is the same. Some of the seeds we plant in our children fall deep into their hearts. They become values, virtues, the things that shape who they are. Other seeds become lessons learned the hard way. And in time, all of it, the tired nights, the repeated words, the daily showing up, bears fruit.
The harvest doesn’t come all at once. It comes in glimpses: the toddler who finally says “sorry” without being told, the preschooler who shows kindness to a stranger, the teenager who quietly remembers the lesson you thought they had forgotten. These are the small fruits that remind us, the sowing was never wasted.
So if you’re tired in your sowing today, you’re not alone. We all get weary in the waiting. But hold onto this: the harvest is worth it. Every unseen act of love, every repeated seed of patience, every weary prayer whispered over your children, it matters. And in time, it will bloom.
